Nearly 900 Foreign Tourists Arrive in Cambodia Aboard Viking Venus
AKP Phnom Penh, October 22, 2026 —
A foreign cruise ship, Viking Venus, arrived at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port on Thursday, bringing 856 international tourists to Cambodia for a two-day visit from Oct. 22 to 23.
According to immigration police officials at the international port, the Norwegian-flagged vessel measures 228.30 metres in length, 28.80 metres in width and has a draught of 6.65 metres. It carried 856 passengers, including 448 women, representing 27 nationalities, along with 467 crew members, including 112 women, from 35 nationalities.
The ship arrived at 6:40 a.m. after departing from a port in Vietnam. It is scheduled to leave Sihanoukville Autonomous Port at 2 p.m. on Oct. 23 for a port in Thailand.
Among the passengers, Americans accounted for the largest group, with 686 people, including 364 women, followed by 52 Australians, including 25 women. In addition, 25 tourists from Siem Reap were continuing their journey aboard the vessel, representing two nationalities.
The arrival marks the second foreign cruise ship call during the current rainy season. As the dry season approaches, cruise ships are expected to bring more international visitors to Cambodia, particularly European tourists visiting Preah Sihanouk province.
The growth in cruise tourism reflects the Royal Government of Cambodia’s policy and strategy to promote tourism as a “green gold” sector that contributes to national economic growth and household incomes.
During their stay, the visitors can explore various attractions in Preah Sihanouk province, including the Tomnub Rolok fishing village, local markets, cultural and religious sites such as pagodas, scenic beaches and local monuments.
The tourists were welcomed upon arrival by the Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk province and relevant officials.
