The Cambodia Division of the 8th Belt and Road Initiative Short Video Competition has been officially launched, inviting contributors to, participants in and witnesses to China-Cambodia Belt and Road cooperation projects to share their stories through short videos.

The 2026 competition marks the 10th anniversary of the official launch of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC). Driven by the Belt and Road Initiative and LMC, China and Cambodia have made significant progress in infrastructure development, agriculture and water resources, cultural and tourism integration, livelihood improvement and youth exchanges.

According to an announcement, themed “China-Cambodia Together: Lancang-Mekong Cooperation for Shared Prosperity,” the competition aims to showcase stories of China-Cambodia cooperation, strengthen people-to-people ties through digital platforms, promote mutual learning and further advance bilateral relations, according to the organisers.

The competition is jointly hosted by the China Public Diplomacy Association, the News Centre of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), and Global Times Online, with support from the Embassy of Cambodia in China, Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP), the Institute for International Studies and Public Policy of the Royal University of Phnom Penh, and CICE International Cooperation and Exchange (Cambodia).

Entries may be submitted in Chinese and English, with the submission period running until 12:00 noon on Sept. 28, 2026 (Beijing Time). Expert review is scheduled for Oct. 10-16, with the awards announcement expected in October.

Participants are required to download and complete the registration form and submit it together with the original video file by email to video@huanqiu.com. The email subject should follow the format: “The Cambodia Division + Title of the Work + Participant’s Name.” Participants are also encouraged to share their entries on social media using the hashtags #WorldKaleidoscope or #百国印记.

Entries should focus on infrastructure development, livelihood improvement, cultural and people-to-people exchanges, connectivity, project achievements and Cambodia’s future prospects. The videos are expected to present stories of China-Cambodia Belt and Road cooperation and joint efforts to promote peaceful development from multiple perspectives.

Each video must be no longer than four minutes, with landscape filming recommended in a 16:9 aspect ratio and a minimum resolution of 1920×1080. Videos must contain clear focal points, crisp audio and background music, and include accurate bilingual subtitles in Chinese and English.

Each submission must also include an accurately translated bilingual title and a cover image in both Chinese and English. Participants are advised not to include watermarks, corner logos, platform emblems or commercial advertisements, as outstanding entries may be publicly showcased after the competition.

The organisers also reminded participants that entries should align with the competition theme and promote positive social values, while avoiding controversial content related to pornography, violence, religion, race or regional discrimination. Works submitted in previous editions are not eligible, and each entry may be submitted for only one award category.
