AKP Phnom Penh, August 30, 2026 -- Minister of Information H.E. Neth Pheaktra has shared an investigative report published by French daily Le Figaro examining the situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border.

According to H.E. Neth Pheaktra, the lengthy report, written by journalist Jean-Luc Moreau Deleris following his visit to Cambodia in March 2026, describes Thailand as an “aggressor” and refers to the Thai occupation of parts of Cambodian territory.

The report, published on Aug. 28, follows recent coverage by French newspapers Le Monde and Libération of the Cambodia-Thailand border situation.

Le Figaro reportedly highlighted damage to Cambodian cultural heritage, including Preah Vihear and Ta Krabei temples, and examined the historical and legal basis of Cambodia’s position, referring to the Franco-Siamese Treaties of 1904 and 1907, border maps, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) judgment of 1962 and its 2013 interpretation.

The report also portrayed Cambodia as the militarily weaker party while highlighting its pursuit of diplomatic and legal avenues to resolve the border issue.

Meanwhile, Thailand was portrayed as the militarily stronger side and accused in the report of using force and attempting to create a fait accompli and alter the situation on the ground.

The report further featured photographs taken by the journalist during his reporting trips to Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey and Banteay Meanchey provinces. The photographs have also been exhibited in France to provide the public with a firsthand view of the situation in Cambodia.
