Minister of Labour and Vocational Training H.E. Heng Sour urged 28 Cambodian scholarship recipients bound for South Korea to acquire cutting-edge knowledge and technology to drive their homeland's development upon their return.

The Minister met with the scholarship winners – 20 of whom are women – on Wednesday at the Ministry ahead of their departure for the 2026-2027 academic year under various South Korean government scholarship programmes.

Congratulating the students, H.E. Heng Sour stated that their achievement reflects personal dedication, Royal Government support, and robust diplomatic ties between Cambodia and South Korea. He highlighted that their fields of study, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), computer science, and engineering, are critical to meeting Cambodian labour market demands and accelerating socio-economic growth.

"You must maximise this valuable opportunity to absorb advanced technology, set clear goals, and build networks with professors and international peers," H.E. Heng Sour said. He also urged them to maintain strong integrity and humility, and foster solidarity with the broader Cambodian diaspora in South Korea, including students and workers.

Expressing confidence in their success, the Minister voiced hope that the students would return as highly qualified, innovative human resources capable of contributing directly to Cambodia's progress.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the scholarship recipients expressed gratitude for the Minister's guidance and direction as they prepare for their academic journey and stay in South Korea.
