Cambodia Sees Strong Potential for Agro-Industrial Parks
AKP Phnom Penh, July 07, 2026 --
Cambodia has strong potential to establish agro-industrial parks on both the demand and supply sides, with the projects expected to play a key role in boosting the country's agriculture and agro-industry, according to a feasibility study reviewed by government officials.
The findings were discussed on July 6, during a meeting between H.E. Chea Vuthy, Secretary-General of the Cambodian Investment Board (CIB) of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), and a working group from the Ministry of Economy and Finance led by H.E. Ros Seilava, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Representatives of the Cambodia-Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development (CAPRED) and the Australian Embassy in Cambodia also took part in discussions on preparing the implementation mechanism for the Framework for the Development of Agro-Industrial Parks in Cambodia.
The framework was prepared by the Supreme Council for National Economic Cooperation in collaboration with the Australian Government through the CAPRED programme, following a feasibility study into the establishment of agro-industrial parks in Cambodia.
According to the study, agro-industrial parks could play an important role in promoting the development of agriculture and agro-industry over the medium and long term.
They are also expected to help address challenges facing the agricultural sector by attracting private investment into agricultural processing, with the aim of increasing the sector's added value in the national economy.
Under the framework, the CDC has been assigned as the single-one-window-service mechanism for managing private investment and special economic zones, including agro-industrial parks registered as qualified investment projects and eligible for incentives under Cambodia's Investment Law.
Mr. Noun Rithy, Chairman of the Board of KFA Group, welcomed the framework, saying it would help attract private investment and support the long-term growth of Cambodia’s agriculture and agro-industry sectors.
“Cambodia has lots of potential to establish agro-industrial parks and these parks will play an important role in promoting the development of agriculture and agro-industrial sectors in the medium and long term,” he said.
