PM Calls for Unrelenting Crackdown on Online Scams

Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has instructed relevant authorities at all levels to continue cracking down on online scams without relenting.
The directive was issued during a plenary Cabinet meeting held at the Peace Palace on Friday, according to a press release from the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit.
While acknowledging the positive results achieved so far, the Prime Minister stressed that authorities must sustain their efforts and ensure that online scam operations are no longer allowed to take place on Cambodian territory.
The statement noted that the government’s actions have gained international recognition, demonstrating Cambodia’s commitment to combating online fraud.
According to data from the Secretariat of the Commission for Combating Online Scams (CCOS), more than 500 scam locations nationwide have been targeted from early 2025 to June 22, 2026, with over 400 illegal operations permanently shut down.
The crackdown also led to the revocation or suspension of 25 casino licences. In addition, authorities have initiated 184 court cases, including 55 currently under trial, while 1,761 defendants have been prosecuted. More than 2,000 foreign suspects from 33 nationalities have also been implicated in the operations.
