Cambodia Promotes Tourism Potential and Visa Exemption Policy at BICTCE in Beijing
AKP Phnom Penh, June 06, 2026 -- Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism participated in the 4th Beijing International Cultural and Tourism Consumption Expo (BICTCE) held in Beijing, the People’s Republic of China, from June 5-7, to promote Cambodia’s tourism potential and attract more Chinese visitors.
The opening ceremony was presided over by H.E. Gao Zheng, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism of China, and Ms. Sima Hong, Vice Mayor of Beijing, with the participation of representatives from tourism institutions, private sector stakeholders, and nearly 200 local and international media representatives.
This year’s expo brought together 33 countries and regions, featuring 637 exhibition booths and close to 1,000 journalists, with more than 100,000 visitors expected during the three-day event.
Following the opening ceremony, senior Chinese officials visited Cambodia’s exhibition booth, where the Ministry of Tourism showcased the country’s tourism destinations, tourism products and cultural heritage.
During the event, Cambodian tourism representatives also gave interviews to major Chinese and international media outlets, including CCTV, China Daily, Beijing Business Today, and Beijing News Radio (FM 94.5). Discussions focused on Cambodia’s tourism development, visitor safety measures and the country’s promotional activities at the expo.
Particular attention was given to Cambodia’s temporary visa exemption policy for Chinese tourists, scheduled to run from June 15 to Oct. 15, 2026.
According to observations on the first day of the exhibition, visitors and media showed strong interest in Cambodia’s visa facilitation measures, tourism safety initiatives and the government’s efforts to combat online scam-related crimes.
Cambodia’s participation in the international event is viewed as an important opportunity to strengthen promotion of the Kingdom as a tourism destination, attract more Chinese and international visitors, and further enhance tourism cooperation between Cambodia and China.
