Hundreds in Cambodia March Barefoot to Protest Thai Incursions
AKP Phnom Penh, December 24, 2025 -- Hundreds of Cambodians marched barefoot near the Royal Residence in Siem Reap city on Wednesday, calling for international support for national sovereignty following Thai incursions into Cambodia.
The "Walking with Barefoot for Peace" was intended to signal Cambodia's commitment to nonviolence and human dignity, according to event coordinators. Participants gathered in a public park before beginning the symbolic procession through Siem Reap streets, better known as the gateway to the Angkor temple complex.
The marchers expressed grave concern over territorial disputes, alleging that Thai forces had violated Cambodian integrity. The barefoot nature of the march was intended as a display of national solidarity and deep love for the country and fellow citizens.
