CRC Donates US$100,000 for Relief Operations in Myanmar
AKP Phnom Penh, March 31, 2025 --
The Cambodian Red Cross (CRC) has decided to extend US$100,000 to the Myanmar Red Cross Society to support the humanitarian efforts in Myanmar struck by a catastrophic 7.7 magnitude earthquake on Mar. 28, 2025.
“In a spirit of solidarity and compassion for the people and government of Myanmar, as well as the Myanmar Red Cross Society, I would like to donate one hundred thousand (100,000.00) US dollars to support ongoing humanitarian efforts,” wrote CRC President Samdech Kittiprittpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen in a message to her Myanmar counterpart Prof. Dr. Myo NYUNT on Mar. 31.
On behalf of the CRC and in her personal capacity, Samdech Bun Rany Hun Sen reiterated her condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the grieving families who have lost their loved ones, as well as to all those affected and in urgent need of spiritual and technical support during this incredibly challenging time.
“We pray for the swift recovery of the injured and for the successful rehabilitation of the affected areas through the collective efforts of the Myanmar Red Cross Society, the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Sister National Societies, and all humanitarian partners. May the resilience and unity of the Myanmar people bring strength and hope in overcoming this tragedy,” she concluded.
As of this morning, the death toll from the earthquake in Myanmar has risen to at least 1,700, with some 3,400 injured and more than 300 missing.
