AKP Phnom Penh, March 25, 2025 --
The Forum on the Progress of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation in the Implementation of the Pentagonal Strategy - Phase 1 of the Royal Government of Cambodia took place at the National Assembly (NA) Palace on Mar. 25, under the chairmanship of NA President Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary.
Co-organised by the National Assembly, Senate, and the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI), the forum aimed to raise public awareness, promote policy dialogue and develop the Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, SMEs and handicrafts, and potable water supply sectors.
Samdech Khuon Sudary stressed the importance of these sectors, stating that, "Industry, science, technology and innovation are crucial sectors that determine our competitive advantage in both political and economic arenas. They are essential for achieving Cambodia’s vision of becoming an upper middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050."
H.E. Ms. Nin Saphon, Chair of NA’s Committee 9, highlighted the NA's roles in legislation, oversight, and representation, advocating for better cooperation between legislative and executive branches to support the Royal Government's Pentagonal Strategy-Phase 1.
During his keynote address to the Forum, Minister Hem Vanndy of MISTI, discussed the ministry's achievements in 2024, challenges and outlined seven strategic directions aimed at enhancing Cambodia's industrialisation and supporting private sector growth.
"The mission of the ministry is to act as a guardian, catalyst, facilitator, and supporter of the private sector, embracing an approach of 'helping rather than halting or punishing," added H.E. Minister.
