AKP Phnom Penh, February 14, 2025 --
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport and the Royal Railway PLC have reached the Framework Agreement (FA) to strengthen Cambodia’s railway infrastructure and ensure sustainable and efficient transport solutions.
The agreement was signed here on Feb. 13 between H.E. Peng Ponea, Minister of Public Works and Transport, representing the Royal Government of Cambodia, and Neak Oknha Kith Meng, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Royal Railway PLC.
The event was also graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including senior officials from the ministry, members of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Railway Concession Agreement Negotiations, representatives of Royal Railway PLC, and relevant technical officers.
This marks a significant milestone in strengthening Cambodia’s railway infrastructure and ensuring sustainable and efficient transport solutions for the future, H.E. Peng Ponea said.
Land transport is very important, and railways are also a key means of transport that the government pays attention to, he underlined.
“The signing of the framework agreement today is a success for Cambodia’s railway sector and a participation in the implementation of the policy of the Royal Government of Cambodia in developing the railway transport and logistics sector,” H.E. Minister said.
This agreement reflects the Royal Government of Cambodia’s strong commitment to enhancing railway connectivity and fostering economic growth.
The RGC launched last year the ‘Comprehensive Intermodal Transport and Logistics System Master Plan 2023-2033’ which is a massive and the most ambitious transport and logistics master plan for the next 10 years seeking an investment capital of US$36.67 billion for the construction of 174 projects aimed at overhauling the infrastructure across the nation.
Royal Railway reaffirmed continued dedication to delivering high-quality railway services that drive Cambodia’s progress.
