Improvement of National Road No. 5 Nearly 30 Percent Completed
AKP Phnom Penh, February 07, 2025 --
The rehabilitation of National Road No. 5 (from Serei Sophorn to Poipet) has been 29 percent completed as of early February.
The update was shared by H.E. Phorn Rim, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, adding that the work is fully operational to finish the project as scheduled by the end of 2026.
Stretching over 35 kilometres, the Serei Sophorn-Poipet road improvement was expected to take 32 months with an estimated cost of US$52 million, he said.
The project is supported by the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Once finished, it will increase Cambodia's transport capacity and improve logistics efficiency, connecting Phnom Penh capital to the Thai border.
