Cambodian Women Gain Firsthand Experience in China’s Advanced Power Technologies
AKP Yunnan, October 13, 2026 -- Two Cambodian young women working for China Datang in Cambodia are gaining firsthand experience in advanced power generation technologies, digital management systems and diversified energy projects during a study visit to China, with the aim of applying their knowledge to the development of Cambodia’s energy sector.
The two participants, Ms. Teng Cheng Ann and Ms. Lay Chan Molliny, are taking part in a 13-day study visit from Oct. 7 to 20, 2026, to learn about technical operations, practical applications and innovations in China’s energy industry.
The visit provides an opportunity for the Cambodian young-employees to explore how modern technologies and innovation can improve operational efficiency and support the sustainable development of the energy sector.
Ms. Teng Cheng Ann said the visit had broadened her perspective and provided valuable experience that would benefit her future work in Cambodia.
“I am proud to learn about advanced power system technologies in China, and I believe the knowledge I have gained will strengthen my capabilities and enable me to contribute to the development of Cambodia’s energy sector in the future,” she said.
Meanwhile, Ms. Lay Chan Molliny said visiting clean energy projects firsthand had deepened her understanding of the importance of technology and innovation in energy development.
“I hope that the exchange of knowledge and experience between Cambodia and China during this visit will continue to create new opportunities for sustainable energy development in Cambodia,” she said.
Both participants highlighted the importance of sharing practical experience and technical expertise in developing human resources and strengthening professional capabilities in the energy sector.
They noted that the knowledge gained through studying China’s experience and practical applications could be adapted to their work in Cambodia, contributing to the country’s energy development and creating opportunities for further cooperation between the two countries.
They also emphasised that human resource development, knowledge-sharing and the adoption of modern technologies are essential to building a more efficient and sustainable energy system.
Cambodia and China have maintained close cooperation in the electricity sector, with Chinese companies playing a significant role in developing the country’s power generation and transmission infrastructure.
Since 2010, power generation projects invested in and constructed by Chinese companies have helped increase Cambodia’s nationwide electricity access rate from approximately 50 percent to nearly 96 percent. The share of clean energy has also risen to more than 63 percent, placing Cambodia second among ASEAN member states, according to the information provided.
The study visit reflects the role of technical exchanges and human resource development in strengthening Cambodia-China cooperation and supporting the future development of Cambodia’s energy sector.
