In a continued demonstration of the Royal Government's commitment to the welfare of displaced citizens, humanitarian relief supplies representing more than 3,000 families were distributed in Svay Chek district, Banteay Meanchey province on Thursday.

The aid, generously provided by Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and First Lady Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony, was delivered to displaced residents currently sheltering in the Rong Cham (Waiting) villages of Sla Kram commune, Svay Chek district, Banteay Meanchey province.

The distribution was led by H.E. Dr. Kun Nhim, Director General of the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) and was accompanied by H.E. Oum Reatrey, Governor of Banteay Meanchey province, along with customs officials and local authorities.

The relief packages, distributed across six villages, included essential food supplies, daily necessities, and a cash stipend to help alleviate the immediate economic burden on families displaced by recent Thai incursions on Cambodian sovereignty.

During the ceremony, H.E. Dr. Kun Nhim conveyed the deep concern and regards of Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and First Lady Dr. Pich Chanmony to the displaced residents. He emphasised that the Premier and First Lady consistently prioritise the well-being, safety, and livelihoods of citizens, particularly those facing hardship due to displacement.

H.E. Dr. Kun Nhim underscored that the assistance is not merely a means to ease daily burdens but serves as a testament to the Royal Government’s empathy and shared commitment to standing with its people during times of crisis.

He also encouraged the displaced citizens to maintain their health, practice good hygiene, and ensure their safety. Furthermore, he urged them to engage in economic activities where possible – such as agriculture, livestock raising, and small businesses – to generate income and strengthen their family's financial resilience.

Banteay Meanchey Governor H.E. Oum Reatrey expressed profound gratitude to H.E. Dr. Kun Nhim and his colleagues for delivering the Prime Minister's humanitarian aid to the Rong Cham villages.

The provincial governor noted that the participation of state institutions and philanthropists in supporting displaced citizens serves as invaluable moral support and reflects the spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance within Cambodian society.

For the more than 3,000 families across the six villages, the receipt of food, supplies, and cash provides not only for their immediate daily needs but also sends a clear message that they are not facing their hardships alone. The Royal Government, local authorities, and relevant institutions remain committed to addressing the challenges faced by citizens to the best of their ability.

This humanitarian initiative contributes to strengthening the morale and resilience of the displaced population during a period when they require protection, care, and encouragement from the broader community.
