Cambodia will experience rainfall across the country this week due to the influence of the 24th tropical storm, named Krovanh, although the Kingdom is not in the storm’s direct path.

According to a notice issued by the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM) this morning, from Sept. 7 to 9, lowland provinces, including Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Pursat, Kampong Chhnang, Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, Kampong Cham, Thbong Khmum, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Takeo and Kandal, as well as Phnom Penh capital, will experience rain covering about 40 percent of the land area, accompanied by thunder, lightning and gusts. Temperatures will range from 25 to 36 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, in highland areas, including Kampong Speu, Pailin, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kratie, Stung Treng, Rattanakiri and Mondulkiri provinces, as well as the Dangrek and Cardamom mountain ranges, rainfall will cover up to 70 percent of the land area, accompanied by thunder, lightning and gusts. Temperatures will vary from a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 35 degrees Celsius.

In the coastal areas of Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot and Kep provinces, as well as the Bokor mountain range, temperatures will range between 25 and 34 degrees Celsius. Rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and gusts will cover about 60 percent of the land area, while sea waves will range from 0.50 to 1.70 metres in height.

The notice was issued to keep the public informed and urge them to remain vigilant against possible accidents related to the weather conditions.
