Samdech Techo Hun Sen Hails German Ties As Ambassador Wraps Up Tenure

Cambodian Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen on Tuesday met with outgoing German Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Stefan Messerer to mark the end of his diplomatic mission, highlighting a shared commitment to deepening economic and cultural cooperation.
During the farewell meeting at the Senate Palace, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his appreciation for H.E. Messerer’s active role in bolstering relations between Cambodia and Germany during his tenure, according to Senate Spokesperson H.E. Chea Thyrith.
H.E. Messerer, who completed a four-year diplomatic term in the country, thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia for its close cooperation. He noted that bilateral joint efforts had yielded significant achievements, particularly in trade, investment, culture, and tourism.
According to the Ambassador, Cambodia has increasingly become a favoured travel destination for German tourists, notably attracting retirees drawn to the country's cultural heritage and appealing environment.
In response, Samdech Techno Hun Sen agreed that economic and trade ties remain the cornerstone of bilateral relations, expressing hope that more German businesses will invest in Cambodia.
He also expressed gratitude for Germany's long-standing support of Cambodia’s development, specifically pointing to assistance in rural development and public administration reform at the sub-national level.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen concluded the meeting by wishing the outgoing envoy success in his future endeavours.
