Cambodia, Vietnam Commit to Strengthening Bilateral Security Ties

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of the Kingdom of Cambodia, on Tuesday afternoon received H.E. General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, for a courtesy call and working discussion at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace in Phnom Penh.
According to Senate Spokesman H.E. Chea Thyrith, Samdech Techo welcomed H.E. Luong Tam Quang and his delegation on their visit to Cambodia to attend the second ministerial meeting involving the Cambodian Ministry of Interior, the Lao Ministry of Public Security, and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security. Samdech Techo also congratulated the participants on the successful and fruitful outcome of the meeting.
During the meeting, H.E. Luong Tam Quang expressed his gratitude to Samdech Techo for granting the audience and noted that the successful ministerial meeting reflected the strong friendship among Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, particularly the traditional ties between Cambodia and Vietnam.
The Vietnamese Minister stressed that the two countries have maintained longstanding relations and should continue supporting one another on security matters, which he described as essential to ensuring peace and stability for both nations.
He further highlighted the importance of preventing any group from using the territory of one country to carry out activities against another, noting that Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam have worked in solidarity to maintain regional security and stability.
Samdech Techo expressed his support for these remarks, underscoring the importance of ensuring that no forces are allowed to use Vietnamese territory against Cambodia or Cambodian territory against Vietnam. He emphasised that close cooperation between the two countries is necessary to prevent such situations from arising.
Samdech Techo also encouraged local authorities along the Cambodia-Vietnam border to maintain regular cooperation in safeguarding security and preserving the border as one of friendship, peace, cooperation, and development, thereby facilitating trade and mutual prosperity.
In addition, Samdech Techo stressed the need for both countries to work together in combating disinformation and fake news intended to undermine Cambodia-Vietnam relations.
