AKP Phnom Penh, June 12, 2026 --
Cambodia is rapidly accelerating its comprehensive preparations to host the historic 20th Francophonie Summit in 2026, following a high-level ministerial working session held to advance the organisational framework and upcoming activities for the prestigious "Village Francophone" event.
The inter-ministerial meeting, convened on June 11, was co-chaired by H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism and Vice-Chairman of the National Committee for the Organisation of the 20th Francophonie Summit 2026, and H.E. Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi, Minister of Women’s Affairs and Chairwoman of Sub-Committee No. 5.
The meeting brought together more than 100 distinguished participants, including senior government officials, ambassadors, representatives from French-speaking embassies, international development partners, chambers of commerce, and key private sector stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, H.E. Huot Hak emphasised that 2026 marks a momentous and historic milestone for the Kingdom of Cambodia as it assumes the immense honour of hosting the 20th Francophonie Summit.
The Minister underscored that the organisation of the parallel “Village Francophone” is not only a profound source of national pride but serves as a premier international platform to showcase the warmth of the Kingdom under the unifying theme, “The Cambodian Smile is the Francophonie Smile.”
H.E. Minister added that the event will offer an unparalleled opportunity to display the rich cultures and traditions of more than 90-member states, alongside the innovative products and services of local and international entrepreneurs, to world leaders, global delegations, and an expected influx of over 100,000 visitors.
The Francophonie Summit is the supreme gathering of Heads of State and Government from the member countries of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), dedicated to fostering high-level dialogue on international politics, the global economy, Francophone cooperation, human rights, education, culture, and democracy.
This landmark international event is poised to welcome delegates from across the globe and a vast network of national and international media representatives.
It is highly anticipated to elevate Cambodia’s vibrant tourism potential, rich cultural heritage, and world-class hospitality, further enhancing the Kingdom’s prestigious reputation on the international arena.
The "Village Francophone" is scheduled to take place across five days, from Nov. 13 to 17, 2026, at the scenic Wat Botum Park in the capital city of Phnom Penh.
The event will be meticulously structured into six key experiential zones: National Pavilions, a Daily Cultural and Artistic Stage, Seminar and Discussion Spaces, a Gastronomic Village, a Cambodian Products Exhibition Area, and a dedicated Media Lounge.
