AKP Beijing, May 21, 2026 --
Ms. Pheng Somany from Cambodia’s state-run Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP) is participating in the China International Press Communication Centre (CIPCC) Programme in Beijing from May 13 to Aug. 13, 2026.
The opening ceremony of CIPCC 2026 was held on May 21 in the presence of H.E. Hong Lei, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of China; H.E. Ma Huaide, President of Renmin University of China; and Ms. Tong Xiaoling, Ambassador of the China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA).
H.E. Hong Lei warmly welcomed participants from 90 countries and expressed his expectation that journalists from the Global South would gain deeper knowledge and understanding of China during the three-month programme while working together to advance modernisation and shared development.
“The CPDA has long strived to make the CIPCC a platform for media friends worldwide to know, understand, and truly perceive China,” Ms. Tong Xiaoling said.
To date, the CPDA has invited nearly 1,000 journalists from more than 140 developing and emerging-market countries to China for training programmes and field visits.
Supported by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the CIPCC is one of the country’s leading training programmes for foreign journalists. Renmin University of China has been involved in the programme since 2014.
The programme also aims to improve reporting quality, promote people-to-people exchanges, and strengthen cooperation among media organisations worldwide.
