Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has commended the Cambodian National Police for their enduring contributions to safeguarding national sovereignty, maintaining public order, and supporting the country’s development, as Cambodia marks the 81st anniversary of National Police Day on May 16.
In a message addressed to national police forces nationwide, the Prime Minister paid tribute to generations of police officers for their sacrifices and dedication since the establishment of the Cambodian National Police on May 16, 1945 under the reign of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk, the late King-Father of Cambodia.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet highlighted the important role played by the police in preserving peace, independence, territorial integrity, social security, and public safety throughout Cambodia’s history, including during periods of social and political challenges.
The Prime Minister extended his congratulations and best wishes to all police leaders, officers, retired personnel, and their families, while also expressing appreciation to border police officers stationed along the frontiers and to officers receiving medical treatment.
He praised the continuous development and achievements of the national police under the leadership of the Ministry of Interior, describing the force as an indispensable pillar supporting the Royal Government in protecting national security and ensuring stability for socio-economic development.
Samdech Thipadei also commended the police for helping guarantee security during major national and international events hosted by Cambodia, contributing to enhancing the country’s prestige on the international stage.
At the same time, the Prime Minister noted that the world continues to face complex security, political, economic, and humanitarian challenges, while Cambodia also faces emerging threats such as transnational crime, organised crime, cybercrime, and other non-traditional crimes.
He therefore encouraged all police officers to continue strengthening their professional capacity, discipline, ethics, and operational effectiveness in order to maintain peace and ensure public safety.
The Premier expressed confidence in the patriotism, loyalty, and professionalism of the Cambodian National Police and reaffirmed the Royal Government’s continued support to further strengthen the force as a capable, effective, and dignified law enforcement institution.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also paid tribute to former generations of police officers who devoted and sacrificed themselves for the nation and the well-being of the Cambodian people.
