Gen. Hun Manith Dedicates New Homes, Land, and Aid to 100 Veteran Families in Kampong Chhnang Province
AKP Phnom Penh, May 15, 2026 --
H.E. Lt. Gen. Hun Manith, representing Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, led a ceremony Thursday in O’ Kambot village, Samaky Meanchey district, Kampong Chhnang province, to hand over newly built homes to 100 veteran families.
Senior officials joined the event, including Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Say Sam Al, Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction; Senior Minister H.E. Sangahapundit Kun Kim, Secretary-General of the Cambodian Veterans and Pensioners Association; Senior Minister H.E. Ouk Rabun; and Provincial Governor H.E. Sun Sovannarith.
Senior Minister Kun Kim conveyed messages from former Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, urging veterans to safeguard public health, foster local unity across political lines, and use their new resources to improve family livelihoods.
Under the Royal Government’s social land concession programme, each family received a 40m x 50m plot and a traditional Khmer-style “Peth” house (6.5m x 7.3m) built with reinforced concrete and durable tile roofing to withstand severe storms. While families hold permanent residency rights, a five‑year ban on selling or transferring the property ensures long‑term housing security.
In addition, each household received 50 kg of rice, instant noodles, condiments, and cash. The initiative is part of a broader national effort to provide dignified housing for retired military personnel and low‑income citizens.
