Cambodia Strengthens Logistics Strategy with World Bank’s Index
AKP Phnom Penh, May 07, 2026 --
H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister, First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, and Chairman of the National Logistics Council, presided over here on May 6 the dissemination workshop on “The New Logistics Performance Index (LPI 2.0) and World Bank Calculation Methodology.”
The event was attended by Ms. Tania Meyer, World Bank Country Manager for Cambodia, H.E. Peng Ponea, Minister of Public Works and Transport, as well as numerous leaders, relevant officials, and representatives from the private sector.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the understanding of representatives from relevant ministries, institutions, transport associations, and the private sector regarding the shift in the World Bank’s assessment methodology.
This transition moves from a survey-based approach (relying on subjective opinions) to the use of actual data through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the logistics efficiency of each country.
During the session, senior officials from the World Bank delivered three key presentations to the assembly including the New Logistics Performance Indicators and Calculation Methodology (LPI 2.0); the Logistics Dashboard; and the National Logistics Information Centre.
On that occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that the logistics sector is the backbone of the national economy and a decisive factor in Cambodia’s competitiveness in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
“A clear understanding of the LPI 2.0 index will help Cambodia identify gaps and implement targeted reform measures to reduce logistics costs and enhance supply chain efficiency,” he said.
H.E. Sun Chanthol also urged all stakeholders to continue efforts toward digitalisation in the transport system and the streamlining of border crossing procedures to be faster and more transparent, in accordance with international standards.
