Tourism Ministry Highlights “6 Shoulds” for Visiting Cambodia in Green Season
AKP Phnom Penh, May 04, 2026 --
The Ministry of Tourism has outlined six “Shoulds” for visitors during Cambodia’s Green Season: 1) Should See, 2) Should Stay, 3) Should Taste, 4) Should Visit, 5) Should Experience, and 6) Should Buy.
On Saturday, the Ministry officially launched the “Visit Cambodia in the Green Season 2026” campaign in a festive and welcoming atmosphere, drawing anticipation from both national and international tourists.
The event, held in Phnom Penh, was presided over by H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, and attended by ambassadors, chargés d’affaires, representatives of foreign embassies in Cambodia, development partners, and representatives of national and international organisations. Senior officials, private sector representatives, and members of the public also joined the ceremony.
In his remarks, H.E. Huot Hak recalled the Ministry’s initiative to replace the term “Low Season” with “Green Season” for the period from May to October. He explained that this shift represents not only a change in terminology but also a transformation in mindset and a strategic national approach.
He stressed that this season showcases Cambodia’s natural beauty, with lush landscapes, fresh greenery, and a clean and peaceful atmosphere, making it ideal for nature-based tourism, ecotourism, and wellness travel.
The Minister further highlighted three main objectives of the campaign: Enhancing international tourist arrivals, Promoting domestic tourism, and Expanding tourism flows throughout the year, particularly during the May-October Green Season, with the aim of positioning Cambodia as a year-round destination.
H.E. Huot Hak expressed confidence that with the active participation of all stakeholders – including government institutions, the private sector, and local communities – under the leadership of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Prime Minister and in a context of full peace, Cambodia can transform this period into a “Green Gold Season,” generating vibrancy, employment, and sustainable economic growth.
He also emphasised the importance of engagement from international partners and foreign travel content creators in enhancing Cambodia’s attractiveness and strengthening global confidence in the country as a tourism destination.
