Cambodian Ambassador to Sofia Unveils ‘Culture of Sharing’ as Antidote to Modern Inequality
AKP Phnom Penh, April 30, 2026 -- In a rare Bulgarian-language address at Sofia University’s 138th anniversary year, Cambodian Ambassador H.E. Dr. Chea Chanboribo delivered a sharp political and philosophical lecture on the “Culture of Sharing”—a modern doctrine designed to heal the social fractures of free-market transition.
Speaking before faculty and students of Classical and Modern Philology, the Ambassador framed the philosophy—championed by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen—as a strategic response to widening wealth gaps and class friction. He outlined three core pillars: voluntary redistribution of resources to ensure social equity, collective crisis action to preserve national unity, and public trust in leadership as the glue of governance.
Citing spontaneous civilian-military solidarity during border tensions as a living example, Dr. Chanboribo argued that sharing both happiness and suffering is the Khmer path to preventing national fragmentation.
The event, hosted at Bulgaria’s oldest and most prestigious university, also underscored deepening Cambodia-Bulgaria ties in education, culture, and economics. A spirited Q&A followed, with Bulgarian students showing sharp interest in Cambodia’s post-transition social model.
