Acting Head of State Sends Best Wishes to His Majesty the King Following Medical Treatment in Beijing
AKP Phnom Penh, April 18, 2026 --
Acting Head of State Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen on Saturday sent a message of best wishes to His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, following announcement from the Ministry of the Royal Palace that the monarch will undergo surgical treatment as part of his medical care in Beijing, China.
In the message, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed concern after learning that His Majesty’s prostate cancer requires surgical treatment as prescribed by doctors at a hospital in the Chinese capital. The King is expected to remain in Beijing for a period of monitoring, examination, and further treatment beginning on April 18, 2026.
Speaking on behalf of the Senate, the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King, the Cambodian People’s Party, and his family, Samdech Techo offered prayers and moral support for the King’s successful surgery and swift recovery.
He expressed confidence that, under the close care of Chinese medical specialists, His Majesty would recover soon.
Samdech Techo also prayed for the protection and blessings of the Triple Gem, sacred spirits, and former Cambodian monarchs, wishing the King restored health, strength, and longevity.
He said the Cambodian people look forward to the King’s return to continue reigning as a symbol of unity and a cherished source of stability for the nation.
At the same time, National Assembly President Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and many other senior officials as well as ministries and institutions also offered their blessing to His Majesty the King, wishing him success in his surgical treatment.
