Cambodian Monarch Highlights International Buddhist Day as a Path to Global Peace and Human Well-being

His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, has underscored that the celebration of International Buddhist Day in the Kingdom aims to promote the values of Buddhism and serve as a means of prayer for global peace and the well-being of humanity.
In a Royal Message issued to the nation on the occasion of International Buddhist Day on April 8, 2026, the King expressed his profound joy and extended his warmest congratulations to all Buddhist monks and Cambodian citizens across the country.
Themed this year “Strengthening Solidarity and Promoting Peace through the Path of Buddhism,” the International Buddhist Day is a significant event observed according to the solar calendar, offering both Buddhists and the general public a deeper understanding of Buddhist teachings, His Majesty emphasised.
The monarch highlighted that the celebration aims to foster unity and harmony among all Buddhist sects, while encouraging followers to adhere closely to the teachings of the Buddha. He also stressed the importance of widely disseminating the Buddha’s teachings for the benefit of national development.
His Majesty further noted that Buddhism plays a crucial role in strengthening solidarity, promoting respect for religion, and contributing to peace and religious harmony within Cambodian society, as well as across the world.
