ABC Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusive Banking Sector in Cambodia
AKP Phnom Penh, March 27, 2026 -- The Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC) has committed to supporting a responsible and inclusive banking sector in Cambodia, while protecting the legitimate interests of its members, according to its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Mar. 26, 2026.
“The meeting reaffirmed ABC's commitment to supporting a sound, responsible, and inclusive banking sector in Cambodia, while protecting the legitimate interests of its members,” ABC said in a statement issued on Mar. 27.
Mr. Rath Sophoan, re-elected Chairman of ABC, reaffirmed his commitment to continue implementing the recommendations of the Independent Review of ABC, including reforms relating to governance, leadership, committees, and advocacy, with a view to further strengthening the Association's effectiveness and voice.
In his remarks, he congratulated the newly elected Council members and set out a three-pillar vision for the new term: to promote a responsible, ethical, and sustainable banking sector that strengthens public trust and advances financial inclusion; to build banker capabilities through continuous learning, technical excellence, and ethical leadership; and to foster stronger collaboration across the ecosystem in support of national prosperity and sustainable growth.
He reaffirmed ABC’s commitment to working closely with the National Bank of Cambodia and other relevant stakeholders and partners in the government to support policy priorities that enhance financial sector stability, inclusion, resilience, and sustainable economic growth.
Cambodia's banking and financial institutions had reported a modest lending growth in 2025, according to a National Bank of Cambodia's annual report.
