AKP Phnom Penh, March 23, 2026 --
More than 3,000 Cambodian workers and community members gathered in Miryang, South Korea, on Sunday to hold an early celebration of the traditional Khmer New Year, the first such event ahead of the upcoming holiday.
The festivities took place in Miryang, located in South Gyeongsang province, organised by Cambodian workers and associations to mark the upcoming traditional New Year. The event was held to provide joy to the Cambodian community in the region while also promoting Khmer customs and traditions on the international stage, in celebration of the Year of the Horse.
The celebration received support and cooperation from Cambodia’s Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, the Cambodian Embassy in South Korea, and the Khmer Youth Association in Miryang. The programme featured religious ceremonies, tributes to fallen soldiers, traditional Khmer folk games, and cultural performances for attendees.
In addition, participants enjoyed a variety of traditional Khmer dishes from more than 30 food stalls.
