Minister Urges Calm as Government Secures LPG Supply
AKP Phnom Penh, March 23, 2026 --
The Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) is working actively to ensure a stable supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and other fuels, Minister of Mines and Energy H.E. Keo Rottanak said in a briefing posted on his official social media this morning.
The Minister acknowledged that LPG is currently the most constrained fuel, but stressed that the RGC is coordinating with companies and regional partners to secure sufficient supply for transport, cooking, and industrial use.
“There are seven companies importing LPG, and they will continue supplying the market throughout March and April,” he underlined.
Addressing concerns following Sokimex Company’s announcement to suspend LPG supply in early April, made public on Mar. 22, the Minister noted that the company accounts for only about 3 percent of Cambodia’s total LPG supply.
H.E. Keo Rottanak called on the public to remain calm and avoid panic, while encouraging more efficient use of LPG.
He also urged citizens to consider switching to electric cooking appliances, noting the government’s commitment to ensuring reliable electricity supply and stable pricing.
