Displaced Resident Expresses Confidence Government Will Recover Seized Home
AKP Phnom Penh, March 22, 2026 --
A displaced Cambodian resident has expressed confidence that the Royal Government will eventually reclaim homes and land occupied unlawfully by Thai forces along the border.
Despite being relocated to temporary shelters, many displaced families continue to long for their former homes, which they describe as places of safety and stability.
Ms. Rim Dikhim, a resident displaced from the Boeung Trakuon area, Banteay Meanchey province, and formerly a small shop owner, said she lost all her goods after stocking up ahead of the Universal New Year.
“I had just purchased goods a few days earlier when the conflict broke out. Now, I have nothing left – no home and no livelihood,” she said.
She added that her greatest wish is to return to her home, expressing her confidence that the Royal Government will find a solution and recover the property for her in the future.
“I still have faith in the Royal Government to resolve this issue and help bring my home back one day,” she said.
The Royal Government of Cambodia, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has lodged repeated protests and called on Thailand to respect joint statements and relevant agreements in good faith. Cambodia has also reaffirmed its position that border disputes must be resolved through international legal mechanisms and that it does not recognise any alteration of its borders by force.
