Street Arts Performance in Siem Reap Deepens Cambodia–China Cultural Ties
AKP Phnom Penh, March 22, 2026 –
The “Cambodia–China International Street Arts Performance,” held to celebrate the Cambodia–China Tourism Year 2026, attracted large numbers of domestic and international visitors in Siem Reap province.
The event, jointly organised by the Ministry of Tourism and the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, was presided over by H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, and his spouse. It was attended by senior officials from relevant ministries and institutions, H.E. Ngov Sengkak, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap province, representatives of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia, students, and more than 3,000 national and international tourists at Pub Street.
Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Ngov Sengkak highlighted the province’s tourism development through experiential tourism, which offers diverse opportunities for visitors to engage directly with Cambodia’s culture, traditions, arts, cuisine, and heritage sites, particularly in Siem Reap.
In his remarks, H.E. Huot Hak expressed appreciation to the Chinese side for its continued support in promoting tourism events and programmes, especially under the framework of the Cambodia–China Tourism Year 2026, which aims to increase tourist flows and strengthen bilateral cooperation.
He emphasised that tourism remains a priority pillar of Cambodia’s economy, often referred to as “green gold,” playing a key role in job creation, income generation, economic growth, and cultural preservation.
The Minister also called on all stakeholders and citizens to further promote Cambodia’s tourism sector by highlighting the Kingdom’s safety, hospitality, and the renowned “Cambodian smile” to attract more international visitors.
According to tourism figures, Cambodia received approximately 5.6 million international tourists in 2025, including more than 1.2 million Chinese visitors, an increase of nearly 42 percent, making China the second-largest source market.
In the first two months of 2026, the Kingdom welcomed around 700,000 international tourists, including approximately 150,000 Chinese visitors.
From June 15 to Oct. 15, 2026, Chinese passport holders will be granted visa-free entry to Cambodia, further facilitating travel between the two countries.
