Government Working Group Delivers Farm Produce to Nearly 1,000 Displaced Families in Banteay Meanchey
AKP Phnom Penh, March 02, 2026 --
A Royal Government Task Force assigned to O’Chrov district delivered fresh farm produce to nearly 1,000 displaced families sheltering at a safety centre in northwestern Cambodia on Monday, underscoring ongoing humanitarian support efforts amid border tensions.
The delegation, representing the Royal Government Working Group for O’Chrov district in Banteay Meanchey province, distributed vegetables and duck eggs to 931 families currently taking temporary refuge at Wat Chan Sy Ratanaram in Kob commune.
Officials said the food supplies were produced directly by local agricultural teams affiliated with the working group, highlighting what they described as preparedness and community solidarity during a time of hardship.
Tan Phannara, deputy head of the Royal Government Working Group for O’Chrov district, said the Royal Government continues to place the welfare of its citizens at the forefront of its priorities.
“Under the leadership of the Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, the Royal Government of Cambodia consistently prioritises the well-being of the people,” he said. “Regardless of the circumstances, Royal Government officials and local authorities remain by the side of citizens and are committed to addressing their needs.”
O’Chrov district Governor Mr. Keo Dara Raksmey said district authorities have maintained security, food supplies and welfare services at the safety centre to ensure displaced residents are not left without assistance.
The displaced families, many of whom fled their homes following reported incursions by Thai troops along the Cambodian-Thai border, expressed appreciation for the continued support. One resident said that although some families are not yet able to return home due to security concerns, regular visits by officials and uninterrupted food assistance have provided reassurance during the uncertainty.
The distribution, officials said, was intended not only to ease immediate living difficulties but also to offer moral support to affected residents, reflecting what they described as a culture of solidarity and responsibility within the Cambodian administration.
