Cambodian Envoy Proposes Cheju Halla Scholarships for Cambodian Students in South Korea

Cambodian Ambassador to South Korea H.E. Khuon Phon Rattanak met with Dr. JUN Yongwook, Vice President of Cheju Halla University, at the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Seoul on Wednesday to expand bilateral educational ties and secure academic backing for Cambodian nationals.
During the session, Ambassador Phon Rattanak urged the university to explore offering scholarships to Cambodian graduates of South Korean institutions and local diaspora members seeking higher education at Cheju Halla University.
Dr. JUN outlined plans to establish academic partnerships with Cambodian universities, aiming to grant scholarships to underprivileged students for studies aligned with South Korean standards.
The initiative emphasises AI-driven accounting to prepare students for the global job market.
Founded in 1969 on Jeju Island, Cheju Halla University specialises in social sciences and incorporates artificial intelligence across programmes in media management, design, information technology, drone technology, and architecture.
Ambassador Phon Rattanak endorsed the proposal and invited Dr. JUN to Cambodia to conduct direct talks with relevant ministries and academic institutions, pledging full diplomatic facilitation.
