The United Nations wants Cambodia and Thailand to resolve their border issues peacefully in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and international law, said H.E. Ms. Vladanka Andreeva, the newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Cambodia, on Monday morning.

She made the remarks after Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, briefed her on the latest developments along the Cambodia-Thailand border during her courtesy call at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh.

Besides, H.E. Ms. Vladanka Andreeva reaffirmed the UN’s continued support for Cambodia’s socio-economic development.

The new UN Resident Coordinator also expressed her gratitude and appreciation for Cambodia’s contributions to global peacekeeping missions over the past 20 years through the deployment of peacekeepers under the UN framework.

At the same time, she highly valued the close cooperation between Cambodia’s relevant ministries and institutions and UN agencies operating in the country.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei expressed his pleasure at welcoming H.E. Ms. Vladanka Andreeva on her second working mission to Cambodia and spoke highly of the UN’s partnership in supporting the Kingdom’s socio-economic development.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister recalled his fruitful meetings with H.E. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations; H.E. Ms. Annalena Baerbock, President of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly; and H.E. Volker Türk, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, during his recent visit to Europe.

Samdech Thipadei also emphasised that relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions will continue to work closely with UN agencies in Cambodia to further strengthen cooperation.
