Saudi King Donates Ramadan Food Packages to Cambodian Muslims in Takeo Province
AKP Phnom Penh, February 27, 2026 -- Senior Minister H.E. Dr. Othsman Hassan delivered 500 Ramadan food packages to Muslim families in Takeo province on Thursday, highlighting Cambodia’s commitment to religious harmony and international cooperation.
The aid, a royal gift from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, was distributed to residents from the Angkor Borey and Borey Chulsa districts, as well as Daun Keo city. The handover ceremony took place in Sangkat Baray as the local Muslim community prepares for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
Addressing the recipients, Senior Minister Hassan, who is responsible for Special Missions, characterised Cambodia as a global model for religious coexistence.
"Despite our different faiths, we live under a single constitution with full religious freedom," the Minister said. "Under the leadership of former Prime Minister and current Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and continuing under Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, the Royal Government prioritises harmony to ensure that religious conflict never takes root in our society."
The Senior Minister emphasised that the Cambodian Constitution guarantees equal rights for all citizens to practice their faith, provided those practices do not infringe upon the beliefs of others.
He noted that this mutual respect is a fundamental pillar of the nation’s ongoing development.
Takeo Provincial Governor H.E. Vei Samnang praised the local Muslim community for their contribution to social stability and local development.
"We view our Muslim citizens as an integral part of our province’s progress," Governor Samnang said.
"The peace and tolerance we enjoy today are a legacy we must protect. We must remain vigilant against any incitement that could threaten our national unity."
The distribution is part of a broader humanitarian effort by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support Muslim communities worldwide during Ramadan, strengthening diplomatic and cultural ties between Riyadh and Phnom Penh.
