Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology Receives ADB Delegation
AKP Phnom Penh, February 25, 2026 --
H.E. Thor Chetha, Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, received here on Feb. 25 a courtesy call from Mr. Nianshan Zhang, Director General for Southeast Asia at the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
During the meeting, the Minister expressed his gratitude to the ADB for its longstanding cooperation and active contribution to Cambodia’s socio-economic development, particularly in modernising water management infrastructure to address climate change and global warming.
H.E. Thor Chetha emphasised that water resource management plays a vital role in supporting multi-sectoral economic growth beyond just the agricultural sector.
The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM) is working diligently to address challenges and ensure maximum "Water Security," especially in response to water shortages during the dry season, he said.
For his part, Mr. Nianshan Zhang spoke highly of the existing close cooperation, reaffirming the ADB’s commitment to building a positive relationship and strengthening a robust partnership with the Ministry regarding current and future investments, specifically aiming to gain a deeper understanding of the Ministry's key priorities and challenges.
MOWRAM is currently implementing several investment projects funded by ADB, including the Climate-Friendly Agribusiness Value Chains Sector Project (CFAVC), the Irrigated Agriculture Improvement Project (IAIP), the Integrated Water Resources Management Project (IWRM), and the Second Integrated Water Resources Management Project (SIWRMP).
