Cambodia and Canada Affirm Strategic Ties Ahead of Bilateral Talks
AKP Phnom Penh, February 03, 2026 -- Cambodia and Canada have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations and expanding cross-sector cooperation during a high-level diplomatic meeting in the capital.
H.E. Meas Kimheng, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received H.E. Christian DesRoches, Ambassador of Canada to Cambodia, at the Ministry on Monday afternoon.
Both officials expressed satisfaction with the "positive momentum" of the diplomatic trajectory between the two nations.
The discussions centred on strengthening existing frameworks and exploring new avenues for partnership.
A primary focus of the meeting was the preparation for the Second Round of Bilateral Consultations, scheduled to take place next week in Phnom Penh. This upcoming forum is expected to serve as a platform for senior officials from both foreign ministries to align on trade, development, and regional security issues.
According to official statements, the dialogue also touched upon regional stability. Secretary of State Meas Kimheng provided Ambassador DesRoches with an update on recent developments regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border situation.
