Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has mobilised a specialised task force to spearhead reconstruction and demining efforts in border provinces following recent Thai military incursions.

The task force, formally established on Dec. 23, is currently on the ground conducting impact assessments in conflict-affected zones. The primary mission is to evaluate damage to civilian infrastructure and the subsequent disruption of local livelihoods caused by Thai troops shelling.

In a nationwide address on Jan. 10, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet emphasised that clearing unexploded ordnance (UXO) remains a critical prerequisite for the safe return of displaced populations.

"The removal of remnants of war and unexploded ordnance is a vital task to ensure the safety of our displaced citizens before they can return to their homes," the Prime Minister stated.

The Royal Government’s recovery strategy focuses on three urgent pillars: assessing damage to crops and farmland, evaluating the debt status of affected residents to mitigate economic hardship, and repairing immediately essential public services, including water, electricity, and telecommunications.

Beyond physical reconstruction, the Royal Government has deployed health officials to temporary shelters to provide medical care to internally displaced persons (IDPs).

The Prime Minister also extended formal gratitude to the international community, development partners, and the private sector for their contributions. Foreign aid and private donations have been instrumental in supporting both displaced civilians and frontline security forces during the crisis.

"The Royal Government deeply appreciates the resources and solidarity shown by our friends and partners during this challenging period," Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said.
