Nearly 6,000 More Displaced People Return Home
AKP Phnom Penh, January 10, 2026 –
Nearly 6,000 additional displaced people from safety camps across seven provinces in Cambodia have returned to their respective homes, according to the Ministry of Interior.
“From 6:00 a.m. on Jan. 9 to 6:00 a.m. on Jan. 10, 2026, a total of 5,957 displaced persons returned to their homes,” the Ministry said.
As of January 10, 2026, approximately 480,000 displaced persons have returned home, while 167,226 people remain in displacement camps. Most of those still displaced are from areas that Thai forces took control of following the ceasefire on December 27, 2025.
The affected areas include Prey Chan and Chouk Chey villages and Boeung Trakuon in Banteay Meanchey province; O’Phluk Damrei and Thmar Da International Border Gate in Pursat province; An Ses, Ta Thav, and Phnom Traap in Preah Vihear province; and O’Smach, Knar Temple, Ta Krabei Temple, Tamone Thom Temple, Chob Angkunh, and Chok Krous in Oddar Meanchey province.
