MAFF Outlines Recovery Plan for Agricultural Areas Affected by Thailand’s Invasion
AKP Phnom Penh, January 03, 2026 -- The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) is ready to cooperate with relevant parties from government institutions, development partners and private sector in restoring and promoting agricultural sector in areas affected by recent Thailand’s invasion.
The remark was made in a meeting chaired by H.E. Touch Bun Hour, the Ministry’s Secretary of State, to review, discuss and summarise the damage assessment report on agriculture and food security impacts.
The Secretary of State highlighted that the second Cambodia-Thailand border conflict has affected and damaged sub-sectors such as vegetables, fruit trees, livestock, rice, corn, cassava and fish in some districts in eight provinces, including Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Koh Kong, Preah Vihear, Pursat, Pailin, Oddar Meanchey and Siem Reap.
According to the initial assessment of the Departments of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of the eight provinces, the impact has not caused any problems to food security in those regions in the short and medium term.
Through emergency interventions, the MAFF is ready to cooperate with the National Committee for Disaster Management, the Secretariat of the Cambodian Food Reserve System and local authorities, as well as development partners and the private sector to restore and promote the agricultural sector in the affected areas along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
