Cambodian National Assembly President Receives Private Donations to Support Border Troops
AKP Phnom Penh, January 02, 2026 -- Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, received a significant donation of cash and supplies on Friday intended to bolster support for frontline troops and displaced civilians amid ongoing national security efforts.
The donation, provided by Oknha Sok Sopheap, Director General of Champion Company, and her spouse, includes 10 million Riel (approximately US$2,500), one tonne of rice, and 500 cases of beverages. The contribution is part of a broader "Great Khmer Family" solidarity movement aimed at supporting the Royal Government and the armed forces in their mission to protect national sovereignty.
During the handover ceremony, Samdech Sudary expressed deep gratitude to the donors and the wider business community for their patriotism.
"I urge all domestic investors to transform this challenging period into a new opportunity for national economic strength," she said. "We must expand our production chains to produce more local goods and reduce our reliance on imports. Achieving self-sufficiency in essential products is the key to Cambodia’s independence across all sectors."
The National Assembly President emphasised that the current wave of humanitarian aid reflects a unified national spirit that transcends political affiliations. She urged the public to "transform our current pain into national strength and resilience."
According to the National Assembly, the donated funds and supplies are being systematically redistributed to border provinces including Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Pursat, and Koh Kong. Resources are also being allocated to support wounded soldiers in hospitals and the families of those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
Samdech Khuon Sudary concluded by reaffirming the public's trust in the national leadership, specifically Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet. She reiterated the Royal Government’s commitment to resolving border issues through peaceful international and bilateral mechanisms while maintaining absolute territorial integrity.
