U.S. to Facilitate Cambodia-Thailand Discussions for Peace and Stability

The United States is prepared to facilitate discussions to ensure peace and stability between Cambodia and Thailand.
This commitment was reaffirmed by Honourable Marco Rubio, Secretary of State of the United States, during a telephone call with Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, last night, according to a statement from the Office of the Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State.
Honourable Marco Rubio expressed concern regarding the ongoing violence between Cambodia and Thailand, and reiterated President Trump’s desire for peace and the need to fully implement the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accords.
Via his social media platform, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said the discussion with Honourable Marco Rubio focused on ways to secure a ceasefire along the Cambodia-Thailand border and to continue the implementation of the peace agreement to achieve lasting peace between the two neighbouring nations.
Samdech Thipadei also reiterated Cambodia’s position of resolving border issues peacefully, in accordance with the principles and mechanisms previously agreed upon, in order to resolve the Cambodia-Thailand border issue and build lasting peace between the two countries.
