Civilian Residential Area in Poipet Targeted by Thai Shelling
AKP Phnom Penh, December 23, 2025 -- Thai forces intensified their shelling of civilian areas in Stung Bot village, Sangkat Phsar Kandal, Poipet city, Banteay Meanchey province, this afternoon.
According to the Ministry of National Defence, at 1:37 p.m., the Thai military fired four shells, and another shell at 2:07 p.m. into a densely populated residential area within the village.
The Ministry emphasised that these brutal actions constitute indiscriminate attacks by the Thai military and represent a serious violation of international humanitarian law.
“The Cambodian forces continue to monitor the situation closely, standing strong, brave, and vigilant in their duty to protect the territorial integrity of Cambodia,” it reaffirmed. “We will defend our national dignity with courage and unwavering resolve, at any cost, without succumbing to coercion or intimidation in any form.”
