Cambodia, Russia Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations and Cooperation
AKP Phnom Penh, December 21, 2025 —
Deputy Prime Minister H.E. PRAK Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, exchanged views on enhancing Cambodia-Russia bilateral relations with H.E. Anatoly Borovik, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Cambodia, during a courtesy call at the Ministry on Dec. 19.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister expressed high regard for the longstanding traditional ties between Cambodia and Russia, noting the upcoming 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2026. Both sides agreed to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation in all fields for mutual benefit.
H.E. Deputy Prime Minister also apprised Ambassador Borovik of the gravity of the Cambodia-Thailand conflict and thanked the Ambassador for his condolences on the loss of lives and sympathies for the affected civilian. Sharing concerns over the serious impact of fake news and misinformation, both sides dismissed the unfounded media report alleging that Russian citizens are serving as mercenaries in Cambodia.
H.E. Deputy Prime Minister expressed appreciation to Ambassador Borovik for supporting an immediate ceasefire and a return to a peaceful resolution. He thanked the Embassy of the Russian Federation for its contribution to relief efforts for displaced families through the Cambodian Red Cross.
