Cambodia, China to Further Strengthen Comprehensive Strategic Partnership
AKP Phnom Penh, December 19, 2025 -- Cambodian and Chinese top diplomats held a telephone call yesterday afternoon, during which they reaffirmed their commitment to the iron-clad Cambodia-China friendship and agreed to further strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, and H.E. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, also agreed to advance the building of the all-weather Cambodia-China Community with a Shared Future in the New Era.
Both sides further exchanged views on the regional and international issues, including the latest developments regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border situation.
This call was made after Chinese Foreign Ministry's special envoy for Asian affairs has started a shuttle-diplomacy trip to Cambodia and Thailand in an effort to bridge the two sides to rebuild peace at an early date.
On the same day, H.E. Wang Yi also talked on phone with H.E. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Thai Foreign Minister. H.E. Guo Jiakun, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, shared that during the phone talks with his Cambodian and Thai counterparts, H.E. Wang Yi said that China has consistently advocated for peaceful dialogue and maintained a fair and impartial stance, while supporting ASEAN's mediation efforts.
A Special Envoy for Asian Affairs from China's Foreign Ministry has been dispatched to Cambodia and Thailand for shuttle diplomacy, he said, adding that China will continue to serve as a bridge and make constructive efforts to facilitate the restoration of peace between the two countries.
