Cambodia Suspends All Border Crossings with Thailand Amid Rising Tensions
AKP Phnom Penh, December 13, 2025 -- The Royal Government of Cambodia has announced the full suspension of all entry and exit movements at every Cambodia-Thailand border crossing, effective immediately and until further notice, citing escalating security concerns along the border.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior AKP received this afternoon, the decision follows recent developments in which Thai forces are carrying out indiscriminate attacks on Cambodia's sovereignty by different weapons, including toxic bombs, cluster bombs.
The Royal Government stated that the suspension is intended to ensure the safety and security of all civilians, including Cambodian, Thai, and other foreigners, particularly those who would otherwise be travelling across the border.
Cambodian citizens currently residing and working in Thailand have been advised to continue their daily lives as usual. Similarly, Thai nationals living and working in Cambodia are encouraged to remain in the country until a full ceasefire is implemented. Authorities emphasised that the measure aims to reduce risks associated with cross-border travel during the ongoing tensions.
The Ministry of Interior has instructed provincial administrations along the border, as well as all capital and provincial authorities nationwide, to increase vigilance and provide maximum protection and assistance, within their capacity, to Thai nationals and foreign residents. This assistance is to be provided on an equal basis with Cambodian citizens.
At the same time, the Cambodian Ministry of Interior called on the Ministry of Interior of Thailand to ensure appropriate protection for Cambodian citizens currently residing in Thailand.
The Royal Government of Cambodian reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding civilians and maintaining stability while closely monitoring developments along the border.
