India Shares Concern over Damage to Preah Vihear Temple
AKP Phnom Penh, December 13, 2025 -- The Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, Shri Randhir Jaiswal, has expressed concern over damage to conservation facilities at Preah Vihear Temple amid the ongoing Cambodia–Thailand border clashes.
Any damage to conservation facilities is unfortunate and is a matter of concern, he underlined on Dec. 12 in response to media queries regarding the situation.
“The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Preah Vihear Temple is a shared cultural heritage of humanity. India has been closely involved in its preservation,” the spokesperson said. “We sincerely hope that all measures will be taken to fully safeguard the site and related conservation facilities.”
Shri Randhir Jaiswal further reiterated India’s appeal to both Cambodia and Thailand to exercise restraint and to take measures for cessation of hostilities and prevention of further escalation. “We urge them to return to the path of dialogue and peace," he concluded.
At the same time, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea also issued a statement expressing deep concern over the recent military clashes and escalating tensions between the two neighbouring countries. It extended its heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the victims of the clashes and their bereaved families.
“The government of the Republic of Korea urges both Cambodia and Thailand to peacefully resolve the situation through dialogue at the earliest possible time in accordance with international law and the Joint Declaration between Cambodia and Thailand issued on Oct. 26,” he stated.
