PM Reaffirms Cambodia’s Strong Adherence to Peaceful Means
AKP Phnom Penh, December 13, 2025 --
Cambodia has always been adhering to peaceful means for dispute resolutions, in accordance with the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet told American and Malaysian Leaders recently.
The Premier reiterated Cambodia’s stance in his phone conversations with Prime Minister Anwar of Malaysia on Thursday Dec. 11 and last night, Dec. 12, with President Donald Trump of the United States, to find ways to have a ceasefire and return to the implementation of Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration between Cambodia and Thailand.
“Regarding the shooting incident on the afternoon of Dec. 7, 2025, which started this new round of fight between the two countries, I suggested to both leaders that militaries or agencies of United States and Malaysia can use their information gathering capabilities such as satellite imageries recorded during that time as well as for the next twenty four hours after that to verify which side opened fires first,” he stated in a social media post early this morning.
This maybe the easiest and most transparent ways to verify the incident, he underlined, adding that Cambodia is ready to cooperate in any way that is needed, he underlined.
Samdech Thipadei also expressed his gratitude to both leaders for their continuous efforts to achieve a long-lasting peace between Cambodia and Thailand.
Since Dec. 7, the Thai military has renewed its attacks on Cambodian territory and expanded operations across multiple locations in Preah Vihear, Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, Battambang, and Pursat provinces. These operations have included the use of heavy weapons, F-16 fighter jets, and toxic gas, resulting in civilian casualties, damage to homes, temples, and health centers, the temporary closure of hundreds of schools, and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of civilians. Cambodia has no choice but to counterattack in self-defence to repeated violations of its territorial integrity after exercising more than 24 hours of maximum restraint.
