Istanbul-Phnom Penh Flight to Bring More Tourists: Tourism Minister
AKP Phnom Penh, December 12, 2025 --
The new direct flight from Istanbul to Phnom Penh operated by Turkish Airlines — a major global carrier — is expected to bring more tourists from around the world to Cambodia, said H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism of Cambodia.
The Minister made the remarks during the welcome ceremony for the inaugural direct flight between Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye, and Phnom Penh, held on Dec. 11 at Techo International Airport.
He underlined that this important and fruitful achievement was made possible under the high-level leadership of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, along with the active and tireless efforts of all stakeholders.
H.E. Huot Hak also praised the strong cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Türkiye, the Turkish Ambassador, Turkish Airlines, national and international tour operators, and the people of both nations.
“Through this new connection with an airline that flies to more than 350 destinations in 130 countries, Cambodia’s tourism potential and investment opportunities will be promoted worldwide, helping attract more tourists and investors to Cambodia,” he stressed.
The new service operates three times per week using a Boeing 777-300ER.
With this addition, Turkish Airlines becomes the 36th airline operating flights to and from Cambodia, connecting directly to 46 cities in 17 countries.
Cambodia recorded a total of 5.66 million international air passengers in the first ten months of 2025, a year-on-year increase of 14 percent through its three international airports, according to a SSCA report.
