His Majesty the King Donates US$200,000 to Support Displace Civilians and Frontline Troops
AKP Phnom Penh, December 10, 2025 -- His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, has donated a total of US$200,000 to assist families displaced by Thai military aggression and to support frontline troops stationed along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
Of the royal donation, US$100,000 was provided to the Cambodian Red Cross (CRC) to help displaced civilians facing hardship as a result of ongoing attacks along the border.
The remaining US$100,000 was handed over to the Royal Government to support frontline military forces currently deployed to defend Cambodia’s territorial integrity.
Samdech Moha Montrey Kuy Sophal, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Royal Palace, delivered the royal contributions to representatives of the respective institutions in Phnom Penh this afternoon.
In an update this evening, the Ministry of Interior reported that more than 56,000 families – approximately 190,000 people – have sought refuge at safe centres across six provinces: Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Banteay Meanchey, Pursat, Battambang, and Siem Reap. The surge in displaced civilians follows continued Thai military attacks on Cambodian territory.
The Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) reaffirmed its commitment to the Royal Government’s policy of seeking peaceful resolution to border issues, while steadfastly defending Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The RCAF continues to respect all ceasefire arrangements and prioritises the protection of civilian lives.
Since Dec. 7, the Thai military has renewed its attacks on Cambodian territory and expanded operations across multiple locations in Preah Vihear, Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, Battambang, and Pursat provinces. These operations have included the use of heavy weapons, F-16 fighter jets, and toxic gas, resulting in civilian casualties, damage to homes, temples, and health centers, the temporary closure of hundreds of schools, and the displacement of thousands of civilians. Cambodia has stated that it was compelled to respond in self-defense to repeated violations of its territorial integrity after exercising more than 24 hours of maximum restraint.
